2026 Ohio Tax Holiday
As you may know, the State of Ohio has announced a sales tax holiday period from Friday, August 7, through Sunday, August 9, 2026. However, please note that this year's holiday is significantly more limited in duration lasting only three days and applies to a much narrower range of items compared to previous years: school clothing, school supplies and school instructional materials.
We understand that the state's scaled-back holiday may cause some confusion this year, and our team is here to help answer any questions you may have about your specific orders or invoicing. Please review the important updates below regarding how this affects purchases made with Wolff and if you have any questions, please reach out to your sales representative for clerification.
Wolff Products Are Not Covered by the Holiday
While Wolff offers products that may at first glance appear similar to general school supplies (such as markers, glue, or gloves), none of our sales qualify for the sales tax holiday. There are several reasons for this:
- Specialty Products: Our items are specialized for professional use (such as paint markers, industrial PVC glue, and heavy-duty safety gloves), whereas this year's holiday is strictly limited to general-use items.
- Business-to-Business Exclusion: The state has expressly excluded any items purchased for use in a trade or business from the sales tax holiday. Because Wolff operates primarily in the B2B space, our transactions fall under this exclusion.
What This Means for Your Purchases
- Sales Tax Will Continue to Apply: Wolff will continue to collect and remit sales tax on all sales during the August holiday period, unless the purchase qualifies for a separate statutory exemption and a valid exemption certificate has been provided to and accepted by us.
- Resale Exemptions Unaffected: If you are purchasing items for resale, standard resale exemption rules still fully apply. This process remains completely separate from the state's temporary sales tax holiday.
